You will find here a survey of the pteridophytes of a french karstic area :
The Vercors
.

Pictures of typical nice landscapes are presented to show the natural
environment of this area.

The description of the species and of their habitats remains summary; it is based mainly on field observations and on the books quoted in the bibliography, which will provide you with much more details.

In many cases, pictures are used to illustrate each fern description.
They will be improved or completed as the site develops.

Presently, the checklist contains 47 species and subspecies.

Many web-sites are also devoted in whole or in part to Ferns. Some of them
are given in the links .

Some ferns can develop in different habitats. The repartition given here corresponds to that observed in the Vercors.

Hopefully, other ferns will be documented in the future following new discoveries.

Many thanks are due to Michel Boudrie, Luc Garraud and Rémy Prelli for their stimulating correspondence and for the determination of some species.

Other botanists have also shared their observations with us : Jean-Christophe Gattus and Chantal Hugouvieux are greatly acknowledged.
