Sweet mountain fern

  • Tufted plant with leaves up to 1 m
  • Blade pale green. Pinnae slowly decreasing downward, up to becoming very narrow. Lemon scenting glands on the undersurface
  • Pinnule margins without teeth
  • Circular sori near the pinnule margins. No indusium
  • Short stalk with scales

  • Growth in spring, fructification in summer, leaves yellowing early and disappearing in autumn
  • Woods, shaded rocky slopes, on acidic soils, up to an elevation of 2000 m
  • Rare in the Vercors (to our knowledge, only one site in the Bournillon clift, alt. 920 m)
